Abel Tasman National Park
Abel
Tasman National Park is New Zealand's smallest. It protects 23,000
hectares of the most natural stretch of easily accessible coastline
in New Zealand. The world famous Coast Track opens up the park's
intimate estuaries, golden sand beaches and forested headlands.
The
Department of Conservation
looks after the park and maintains the huts, campsites and tracks
there. Marahau and Totaranui are the main gateways to the park,
1 ½ and 2 ½ hours drive from Nelson. Regular and on-demand bus and
boat services are available.
